OYUnited is excited to announce the launch of our new initiative, OYU Power Labs.
Power Labs aims to invest and support young entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, and changemakers from low-income communities across the nation.
Economic justice is a critical lever in the fight for equity and justice for opportunity youth and their communities., Therefore, our goal is to uplift entrepreneurship as an important pathway – among many others – for young people to build generational and community wealth.
Are you a current or emerging young entrepreneur or social entrepreneur? Do you have a project idea to improve conditions in your community? We need you!
Winners will receive:
- A mini-grant of $1,000
- Entrepreneurship Training and Leadership Development
- Mentorship
- Peer Learning Community
- Access to Networking Opportunities and Events
Who is eligible:
- Young people from low-income communities between the ages of 16-35
- Young people with new, innovative project ideas to address a community issue
- Young people seeking to start-up and provide a product, service, or program
- Young people with small businesses or social ventures that are looking to grow and expand
Types of projects we will support:
We aim to support new and early stage start-ups and projects:
- Small Businesses
- Community Improvement Projects
- Social Ventures
- Nonprofits
Timeline:
- Applications open on April 22nd
- Applications close by May 23rd
- The 10 winners will be announced on May 30th
- Participate in 3-4 online meetings and trainings throughout the months of June and July
- Contribute to a learning community of young entrepreneurs and changemakers from across the country
- Participants will receive ½ of payment upon acceptance into program
- Participants will receive the other ½ upon completion of the trainings
