In addition, the Boston Community Action Team has been at work empowering youth through film, and our Re-Entry Action Committee (RAC) had the opportunity to discuss the bill that would End Life without Parole with Policy Director of MA State Representative Decker.

Beyond the Bars III: Criminal Justice Policy 101

Join us for our third Criminal Justice Townhall on Thursday, October 28th at 6PM ET with policy consultant Marlén Mendoza. You’ll be able to practice drafting a policy agenda that centers around your lived experience, and learn how to gradually move their issue from advocacy to action using the Advocacy Framework.

Meet the OYUnited Fellows

We’re excited to announce our first class of OYUnited Fellows! These 8 young people will work collectively to empower and support opportunity youth, young people between the ages of 16-24 who are out of school and/or work, to become civic leaders and changemakers in their communities and beyond.

The OYUnited Re-Entry Action Committee (RAC) in Action

On August 30, 2021, the OYUnited Re-Entry Action Committee (RAC) led a project for the annual Harvard Global Day of Service for incoming students. Expert speakers from several organizations joined us for the training in advocacy principles, action steps, and the use of social media. In addition, the whole group met virtually with the Policy Director of MA State Representative Decker, to ask her to support the bill that would End Life without Parole.

Boston CAT: Teen Empowerment Rocks!

This year, Teen Empowerment youth developed, scripted, directed, produced, and starred in their own original film, SENSELESS SMOKE – and created an amazing soundtrack! Through SENSELESS SMOKE, you will witness the talent of our youth, hear their message for peace through their own words, music, experiences, realities – and their vision for change. Join them in Boston on November 6th to to watch the film!

The Forum will bring together hundreds of young adult leaders, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders in the youth field. Over three days attendees should expect dynamic and engaging sessions that emphasize discussion and peer learning, Register for the convening.
