Phipps Neighborhoods helps children, youth, and families in low-income communities rise above poverty. We work in South Bronx neighborhoods where we can address the greatest barriers to lasting success through education and career programs, and access to community resources. We’re dedicated to our neighborhoods for the long term, supporting individuals and families as they establish self-sufficiency. Our services create opportunities for people to thrive in every aspect of their lives. Phipps Neighborhoods is excited to support a youth-led grassroots movement to amplify youth voice and activism as the Anchor Organization for the Bronx Community Action Team.
The Bronx Community Action Team is a community of youth advocates who take a leadership role in setting and accomplishing goals that will lead to positive community change for youth throughout the Bronx and beyond. The youth-led movement seeks to promote social justice by engaging in policy advocacy, community improvement projects, community organizing, and civic engagement. In joining BCAT youth have the opportunity to further develop as a leaders, drive systemic change their communities, network with community leaders, gain professional experience, and have access to many opportunities with the support of Phipps Neighborhoods. The program currently consists of a Leadership Council of 20 youth who receive a monthly stipend for their participation. Youth between the ages of 16-24 are eligible to apply for the cohort of 2019-2020. Out of school youth are encouraged to apply.
